MESSAGE FROM THE PRIME MINISTER
LAUNCH OF WALKING A TIGHTROPE
I am pleased to provide this message for the launch of Walking a Tightrope.
Illicit drugs, alcohol misuse and violence cost lives, harm families and hinder the capacity of our country to grow and succeed.
Walking a Tightrope is a guide for families to help them and their loved ones overcome this scourge.
I acknowledge the work of Family Drug Support and its role in building stronger communities and helping individuals regain control of their lives.
I also pay tribute to the National Centre for Education and Training on Addiction for its work helping organisations respond to alcohol and drug-related issues.
These are difficult endeavours, but not thankless. Australia's drug and alcohol workers have the nation's gratitude and respect.
I congratulate everyone who has worked so hard to make today's launch a success. May Walking a Tightrope help improve the lives of individuals and families in our community.
The Hon Tony Abbott MP
Prime Minister of Australia
